Vintage Ruffles!!!

Hello!!!... I just wanted to pop in and share a little card I finished this afternoon with you.

My gorgeous friend Lee and I had a little personal challenge this week... Lee's was to use her "UNOPENED" Crochet Flowers..(yes UNOPENED!!!) and mine was to attempt my very first Ruffled Ribbon!!!! Well I'm happy to report that Lee's challenge was completed within about and hour of the challenge being set... how's that for efficiency!!! ( I KNOW!!!) and mine... well mine has taken a good 144hours plus to complete... yes I also know!!!!!

But... I've done it, and I have to say... I kinda like this ruffled ribbon technique, that is after I figured out an easier way of creating said ruffle without pulling my hair out... mumbling rather loudly.... sighing even louder and almost ( I do say ALMOST) giving up completely!!! hahaa... I'll share my easier way with you later.. maybe even a wee tutorial if you like... but then perhaps you all already know of an easier way, and I'm just a bit slow off the mark. How do you create your "Ruffles"? do let me know!! haha

Anyhoo.. enough rambling ( I tend to do that sometimes) and onto my card:-

And here's a little close up, just so you can actually see that it does say BIRTHDAY and not Happy IRTHDAY!!!... ooops.. sorry about that.. camera angle!!!!

Lee also created a STUNNING version of this flower... seriously you must go and check it out... GORGEOUS!!!! I decided to use Rose Red and some Old Olive Ribbon. I've kept it really CAS.. and I'm really happy with how it turned out. My problem however is that this little baby, needs to be posted... How do I get this in an envelope and sent through the post without it being ... well DESTROYED before it arrives!!! hmmmm

Thanks so much for stopping by, and don't forget to tell me how your create your Ruffles.. I'd LOVE to hear!!

xx Sarah

Here's what I used:-

oh my goodness, i'm so excited about vintage vogue! it looks gorgeous in rose red.

i'm not a huge fan of ruffled ribbon, but the few times i have done it, i've either put a strip of tape down where i want it to go and kinda pleat the ribbon as i go, or i put the tape on the ribbon and do the same thing. i doubt either of these are what could be considered the easiest way though - i haven't bothered to figure that out!

Ooops! Woops, I just dropped my creme egg... Sarah! I LOVE it! How on earth do you manage to take such an ostentatious method of ribbon ruffling and an OTT layered flower, and still make such a simple and elegant card? THAT is talent! I love how the ribbon is only part way across your card, and the bling! ..and the fact that it's on kraft...

Hi Sarah,
Finding time to trawl through some past posts & leave comments this time. The VV flowers are gorgeous in Rose Red & the ribbon is beautifully ruffled. The one time that I tried it, using sticky strip, it kept un-ruffling :-( Maybe I needed more sticky???
Whatdo you think of your beloved Kraft turning into a Crumb Cake? I bet you are excited about matching ink though.
Thanks for your recent lovely comments on my blog, sooo much appreciated, makes my week!

Simply gorgeous card! I don't really have a method for adding a ruffle. I've tried, but it doesn't stay on permanently. I think sewing would work best.
